OUR CONCEPT ON
THE BARRE | ARTS CENTRE MELBOURNE
A stage for flavour. A city in motion.
Beneath the glow of the spire, where trams hum past rain slick streets and the Yarra mirrors the lights of the skyline, The Barre celebrates everything that makes Melbourne unforgettable. It’s a love letter to the city, laneways and rooftops, its obsession with coffee and champagne, its theatre, its grit, its glow.

The menu sings with seasonal Australian produce; it’s modern Melbourne on a plate. Energetic, expressive, and impossible to forget.

OUR CONCEPT ON
THE PROTAGONIST | ARTS CENTRE MELBOURNE
Every story starts here.
Wrapped in bronze toned mesh that catches the morning light and glows like the stage beyond it, The Protagonist is the Arts Centre’s heartbeat, a café by day, bar by night.

It’s where Melbourne’s stories begin: the quiet coffee before rehearsal, the spritz before curtain call, the toast that tastes like comfort and craft. The menu is built on honest ingredients, beautiful bread, local produce, and a touch of theatre in its simplicity. Think Italian delicross with Lygon Street, with a modern Melbourne accent; bold espresso, warm focaccia, crumbed edges, glowing cocktails.

ALLERGRO
A harmonious blend of soft greens, introduced through lush plants and staff aprons, enhances the space’s natural warmth, while the eclectic design on the opposite wall adds a touch of character and intrigue. This inviting environment fosters relaxation, making it the perfect spot to unwind with a book, savor a coffee, and create lasting memories.

Designed to inspire storytelling and spark imagination, the space also serves as a welcoming setting for casual catch-ups with colleagues. The strategic use of a grounding element—such as a bold black accent—adds depth and sophistication, establishing a distinctive and memorable destination.

OUR CONCEPT ON
The Northern Outlet | A Stage on the River
Where the city meets the skyline and indulgence meets artistry.
Overlooking the Yarra and Federation Square, The Northern Outlet will be the Arts Centre’s signature dining and bar destination. A celebration of craft, produce, and connection.

It’s a space for those who come to dine, not just to eat; where each course moves like a symphony, and each cocktail is paired with its own edible overture.
